How did you learn about your internship?
I learned the internship opportunity from a mailing list in our research community.
What was the application process like?
Online submission was the first step, after which a Skype interview directly with the project co-PI and internship supervisor was performed before being offered the final offer.
What were your major tasks or projects at this internship?
To conduct research on effective modelling method of building hydronic heating system and its practical application.
Do you have any recommendations for Georgia Tech students looking to intern in the same company or country?
It is quite similar to Georgia Tech in terms of research atmosphere. You may expect more freedom flexibility in conducting your own research. No language issue at all as it is UK.
Where did you live? Did you find accomodations independently or with your company's help?
I had access to the website of the university's accommodation service and found quite a lot of options, although in the end I chose an apartment known from a friend.
How has this internship influenced your career path?
It further clarifies the expectation of being a researcher in this area, and provides another world of opportunities for potential academic and industrial positions in addition to US.
If paid, did the company you worked for pay you enough to live off of your salary or stipend, or did you have to supplement your income with personal funds?
As a full-time job, the salary is well enough for a common single living style.
