What was the application process like?
There was an online application, quickly followed vlby a Skype interview with the project leader and supervisor, followed shortly by an offer. In this instance German language skills were highly favorable.
What were your major tasks or projects at this internship?
- Designing a prototype for a medical device.
- Assisting in the construction of said prototype.
- Assisting in the construction and setup of a test bench for said device.
- Investigating state of the art, competitors, and their solutions.
- Presenting work and results in front of heads of departments.
Do you have any recommendations for Georgia Tech students looking to intern in the same company or country?
German skills are not required, but are highly recommended.
In some cities, finding a place to stay may be challenging, so plan accordingly.
The company is very large with supervisors taking many tasks at once, so ability to work independently is necessary.
Where did you live? Did you find accomodations independently or with your company's help?
The company will not provide accommodation, plan in advance.

I stayed in a shared apartment (WG).
It is a good option, but not the only one. Ask your supervisor to get you in contact with a current company intern who could help you, but do not expect them to find you a place, that's not their responsibility.
How has this internship influenced your career path?
It has given me valuable industrial and corporate experience, and strengthened my ability and inclination towards engineering design.
If paid, did the company you worked for pay you enough to live off of your salary or stipend, or did you have to supplement your income with personal funds?
The company offered living expenses. I did not have to supplement my income in any way other than the flight tickets.
